REFLECTION:
After interviewing Ms.Patterson, I learned that she mostly preferred to teach at the international school. While teaching here, she found that the school had more respect and put in more trust towards the teachers and students. The students here at KIS, are also very into school and motivated to learn and so that made a big difference as well. I also found out that at the public schools the students mostly prepare for the standardized tests at school. However, at KIS, while we still prepare for these tests and college we still learn numerous things that help us to grow and develop as people. Public schools may help the students gear up for these few standardized tests and get them more used to the realities of life (for example, outside jobs, paying for colleges), international schools add on to the development of the student and help them to succeed later on in life. It can also be seen as an ongoing learning process. Rather than written lectures, Ms.Patterson likes the students to discover things on their own while doing the work. I found that at KIS, we use a different style of teaching. It uses various factors while teaching (such as creativity) and we learn from these experiences. The things we learn while we do our work or prepare for college eventually help us to succeed later on in our lives.
